Our Mission: The purpose of the Columbia County Library is to provide quality library services and materials to adults and children in the community in order to meet their informational, recreational and educational reading needs.
We offer a broad range of library materials including books, periodicals, newspapers, books-on-tape, DVDs, videos and CDs. Services and programs include public internet access and computers, storytimes, reference services, book discussions, genealogy and much more!

We now also provide access to Georgia Download Destination and NetLibrary's eAudiobook collections. Come in to your local Columbia County Library and set up your account for these services. Then choose from hundreds of titles and download to your computer. Listen from your desktop or transfer it to your portable music player (one that's compatible with Windows Media .wma files) and take it with you. |

The Columbia County Library belongs to PINES, the statewide library network that lets you check out and return books at any public library in Georgia. This gives you access to over 7.5 million books, free of charge. For information on getting a library card and checking out books, see our circulation policies. |

Columbia County's libraries are getting busier every year:
- A record 520,544 books were checked out at the Columbia County libraries in 2007.
- 52,469 county residents have library cards.
- Public computer use increased 55% with patrons logging a total 71,388 computer hours.
- Our reference librarians answered 92,907 information inquiries, up 33% from 2006.
- 15,618 people attended library prorgams in 2007.
- If you take the price of the average book and multiply it by the number of books checked out last year, it amounts to $10,233,895 – over ten million dollars that people saved by borrowing materials from the Columbia County libraries in one year.
