To offer quality customer service to the citizens of Columbia County by striving to enrich their lives by providing opportunities through programs and activities during their leisure.
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
Qualified recreation leisure professionals and facilities maintenance personnel strive to meet the needs and expectations of the citizens of Columbia County in diversified youth and adult programs and activities. A fast growing, energetic, customer service oriented department establishing and overseeing programs, activities, events and facilities for the enjoyment of the citizens of Columbia County.
MORE ABOUT COLUMBIA COUNTY RECREATION DEPARTMENT
Patriots Park has more than 100,000 visitors a year. Our department opens Baseball and Softball Seasons with more than 2,500 participants. We also host various baseball and softball tournaments annually. The Dixie Youth Sub-District and District Tournaments, the Dixie Boys and Pre-Majors District Tournaments, the Dixie Majors State Tournament and the Dixie Belles and Ponytails Fast Pitch Softball State Tournaments. Our department has hosted three Dixie Baseball World Series and one Dixie Softball World Series.
We further endeavor to serve the County with various leisure activities such as an 18 hole Disc Golf course, nine tennis courts, a playground picnic area and four soccer fields at Patriots Park. Amenities at Riverside Park include a playground and covered picnic area, a beach volleyball area and a boat ramp and dock accessing the Savannah River. In Spring 2000, we completed a ¾ mile walking track, playground and picnic area at Blanchard Park. There is a six-mile mountain bike trail located at WIldwood Park (948 acres) on Clarks Hill Lake, as well as 61 campsites, shower/restroom facilities, beach area, large picnic shelters and playgrounds. In November 2000, the new Patriots Park Gymnasium was opened to the public featuring 2 regulation size basketball courts or 4 volleyball courts, exercise room, 4 racquetball courts, multi-purpose room, game room and bathrooms with showers and lockers.
