Our mission, as part of the Columbia County Recreation Department, is to offer quality customer service to the citizens of Columbia County by striving to enrich their lives by providing opportunities through programs and activities during their leisure time.
 
Trails are open sunrise to sunset, 7 days a week. A map is posted on the front door of the education building.
 
 
Birthday Parties for Children ages 5 and Up: Does your child enjoy nature and the outdoors? Then sign up for a birthday party at Reed Creek Nature Park and Interpretive Center. Wilderness Survival
This is a fun program for those who are interested in backcountry camping or anyone wanting tips in emergency survival skills. We'll go over compass- and map-work, what to bring when you go camping, as well as tips on making fires and shelters in the wilderness (without matches and a tent). For ages 8 thru 18. Skulls and Scat
Ever wonder what animal left droppings or paw prints in your backyard? We'll learn to identify animal species based on their tracks, skulls, and scat (droppings). Definitely the best time you will ever have while looking at poop! For ages 5 & up. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Little Froggie's Dance Class
This brand new class fuses nature and dance as children learn ballet techniques based on animal movements. This program will be taught by Rebecca Collins, a 17 year old senior at Westside High School, with 13 years of dance experience. Two classes will be offered: Ages 3-5 and 6-8. Both boys and girls are welcome. Pre-registration is required by calling 706-210-4027 or email ehobbs@columbiacountyga.gov. Members: $40; non-members: $50/child.

Nutty Squirrels
These little critters are one of the most loved animals in the wildlife world. We see them just about everyday whether it's bounding from branch to branch up in a tree or tiptoeing across a power line. Yes, sometimes they can be pests, but we'll learn how they are an essential part of our ecosystem, even in big cities. For ages 5 & up. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Cherokee Leaf Painting
Come join us in learning about the Native American craft of Cherokee Leaf Pounding. You'll learn how to transfer a leaf's natural dyes to fabric by beating its chlorophyll directly into the cloth, then how to set the color naturally to avoid it from fading.
