Water is an important natural resource in Columbia County.
In order to protect and preserve this natural resource, water conservation has become a way of life here. In 2004, the Columbia County Board of Commissioners adopted an Outdoor Water Use Ordinance that specifies when water may be used outdoors during various non-drought and drought conditions.

NOTICE: Columbia County is currently in Drought Response Level 1. Water may be used outdoors on designated days as specified below. No outdoor watering permitted on Monday. |
Even-numbered addresses (those ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8) may use water outdoors on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Odd-numbered addresses (those ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9) may use water outdoors on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
Outdoor water use is prohibited on Mondays.

NEW SOD INFORMATION |
| To receive a new sod exemption 30-day permit, come to the Water Office at 4325 Evans-to-Locks Road. The permit must be prominently displayed on or near your front door. When new sod has been installed, it may be watered between midnight and 10 AM on a daily basis for no more than 30 days. If possible, please refrain from watering on Mondays to allow the water system time for recovery and routine maintenance. |
