Just after the fall of communism in the Poland, Columbia County extended a warm hand to assist Nowy Sacz with their first democratic elections. This relationship quickly turned into a friendship and in 1991, Columbia County adopted Nowy Sacz, Poland as its Sister City. Since this agreement was made, numerous delegations from both countries have traveled back and forth with many cultural, student, and medical exchanges

For over 10 years, the County has had a Sister City relationship with Nowy Sacz, Poland. This July ten delegates (8 adults and 2 students - pictured below) visited the County and were honored at a banquet Wednesday evening. They stayed with families and experienced all aspects of the area-from antebellum homes to barbeque and jet skis-as well as County facilities and programs.
