On February 1, 2004, a new ordinance became effective in Columbia County requiring certain types of contractors to become "registered" with the Department of Building and Commercial Services.  This registration is in addition to maintaining your Occupation Tax (business license).  Also, on July 1, 2008, the State of Georgia began licensing general contracators.   Please check the table below to see if the "Registration of Building Contractors" ordinance and the State License requirements apply to you.  This table also lists any other insurance and state license requirements.
