Prohibited Signs - Section 90-135 (9)
Please take a moment to read through the list of prohibited signs below, and determine if any of your signs are not permitted in the County. Please make other arrangements for advertising, and remove the sign in violation as soon as possible. It is our desire to bring all signs in Columbia County into compliance, without issuing citations. Your assistance is appreciated.
Banners (except when a permit for a temporary sign has been issued)
Inflatable signs (except when a permit for a temporary sign has been issued)
Pennants and steamers (except when a permit for a temporary sign has been issued)
Signs with flashing lights or moving characters
Signs which produce sounds
Signs which emit smoke vapor, particles or odors
Signs that advertise an activity, business, product or service no longer conducted on the premises where the sign is located
Signs that are dilapidated, or in such condition to be unsafe or fail to meet the building code
Signs or sign structures that extend into or above or are anchored in the public right-of-way
Signs or lights that are an imitation of an official traffic control sign, signal or emergency vehicle device
Signs affixed to utility poles
Signs that promote illegal activities or contain obscenities
Signs that interfere with safe and free ingress and egress of any door, emergency exit, driveway, street or roadway
