C.L.E.A. Class XIV Graduated in May of 2007
- The academy is open to all Columbia County residents age 18 or older.
- Students meet once a week from 6:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. for ten weeks.
- The academy allows citizens to get an inside look at the operations of their Sheriff's Office, Detention Center, and 911 Center.
- The curriculum includes demonstrations by the Special Response Team (SRT), Crime Suppression Unit K-9's, and motorcycle and bicycle officers, as well as presentations by Special Operations Division deputies specializing in vice & narcotics, and traffic enforcement.
- Students receive firearms safety and marksmanship training with the .40 caliber handgun, the same weapon issued to CCSO uniformed deputies.
