Columbia County offices will be closed Monday, May 27th, and Columbia County Library will be closed Saturday, May 25th - Monday, May 27th in observance of Memorial Day. The book returns will be locked to prevent overfilling, All offices and the library will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, May 28th.

Reed Creek Nature Park & Interpretive Center

Raised Wetland Boardwalk and Trails (1/3 miles)

Open every day sunrise to sunset, this is a popular location for a walk for jogging loop, when not taking in the smaller elements of this natural setting. A map is posted on the front door of the education building and we have laminated maps to borrow inside the interpretive center.

Outdoors Educational Experiences

When you've explored all of the wetland plants and critters along the black willow lined boardwalk. Be sure to visit the CSRA Master Gardener's Demonstration Garden and Pollinator Garden.

Inside the Interpretive Center

Stop by and meet the Reed Creek Ambassador Animals on exhibit, read a book, play a game, and enjoy the back porch which overlooks the wetland. Hours may vary due to our programming so please call ahead.

Programming and Classes Offered

  • Field trips for students of all ages
    • 1-hour long field trip with your choice of two 30-minute activities:
      • Live animal presentation;
      • Owl pellet dissection;
      • Pollution Solution (learn about types of pollution and run-off effects through a hands-on demonstration);
      • Nature hike (learn about native flora and fauna);
      • Pond or creek exploration (this activity takes one hour).
    • Custom field trips for scouts, older students and adults, covering a variety of science topics

  • Outreach for schools, churches, civic organizations
    • Request a special visit from the Reed Creek Ambassadors to your facility. A Reed Creek staff member will bring several live animals to your facility and teach your group about the natural history, biology, and special characteristics of each animal. Your group will have a chance to see the animals up-close and touch them if you would like.
