POSITION SUMMARY
This position is a supervisory position reporting directly to the Park Maintenance Manager. The incumbent must be self motivated and enthusiastic to coordinate the upkeep and general maintenance of the County’s Parks Service areas. The employee is to promote cooperation and team work among their crew members and other employees within the Park Services areas.

The Crew Leader assigns work in terms of both general and precise instructions. He/she is responsible for the supervision and training of crew members, scheduling and assigning work orders on a daily basis, and preparing daily, weekly, semi-annual and annual reports as required.

Guidelines are set forth by Department Operating manuals, A.D.A. Guides, O.S.H.A. Standards, Playground Safety Manuals and other relevant codes.

The work typically requires bending, crouching, stooping, walking, and standing. The work also requires frequent lifting of both light (24 pounds or less) and heavy (25 pounds or more) objects.

The work is performed outdoors and exposes the incumbent to much dirt, dust, grease, cold and/or inclement weather, contagious diseases, and machinery. The work may require the use of protective devices such as masks and gloves.

Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.

Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with recreation and parks maintenance for a minimum of 3 years.

Possession of or the ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license.

Principle Accountabilities
Prepares supply requisitions for materials needed to handle daily responsibilities and maintains a department inventory of equipment and supplies.

Reviews work in progress and upon completion for compliance with department procedures, accuracy of work, and final results.

Provides daily maintenance and upkeep of park and athletic facilities within the assigned area.

Schedules and supervises individuals on the crew.

Performs facility and park inspections and maintains reports.

Schedules necessary repairs or replacements.

Performs other related duties and special events as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of Recreation and Parks facilities and maintenance.

Knowledge of chemical use within the Parks.

Skill supervising and training personnel.

Skill in oral and written communication.

Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Desirable Training and Experience
