Learn about our volunteer dive rescue and recovery team.
The Dive Rescue and Recovery Team is a volunteer team comprised of 40 citizens from all walks of life who obtain their own certifications, training and buy their own diving equipment to perform dive functions. Dive Team members meet the training and physical requirements necessary to voluntarily perform duty as Underwater Recovery Specialists and boat operators.
Team members are strictly volunteer and receive no compensation for any of the services they provide to the community, including conducting underwater searches for missing persons and/or perform forensic underwater searches for physical evidence within bodies of water located in Columbia County. Other duties include (but are not limited to) surface searches, ground searches, rescue and safety operations, and public safety demonstrations and presentations. The Columbia County EMA Dive Rescue and Recovery Team may also be called upon to provide mutual aid to other governmental agencies where written agreements are in place.
