About This Board

The Animal Advisory Board shall hear and determine matters under Chapter 14 of the Official Code of Columbia County and shall serve as the animal control board for the purpose of hearing and determining matters under O.C.G.A. §4-8-24.

About this Board

Local ordinance Article VI, Division 1, Section 2-337 provides that the purpose of the Civil Service Commission is to provide for the management and administration of the human resources of Columbia County. Policies and procedures shall be developed and maintained to provide for the recruitment, selection, development and maintenance of an effective and responsible work force, and shall cover hiring, advancement, training, career development, job classification, discharge and other related activities. All appointments and promotions of employees of the county shall be made without regard to sex, race, religion, or political affiliation, and shall be based on merit and fitness.

Drainage Basin Advisory Council

About This Board

The purpose of the Board is to function as a local volunteer drainage basin council and to involve local community in the stewardship of its drainage basins and attendant natural resources. This council will provide input on current stormwater issues, discuss pollution concerns that the County may be able to address and other suggestions for improving public education and involvement. Council meetings will also discuss the status of current stormwater programs.

About This Board

The Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) was formed by a Resolution of the Columbia County Board of Commissioners in 1999 and received official LEPC designation by the State Emergency Response Commission (SERC) on September 27, 1999. LEPC’s are formed pursuant to requirements of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act. The purpose of the Columbia County LEPC is to promote and facilitate the safety of all persons in Columbia County specifically related to the potential exposure and/or threat of major natural and manmade emergencies and disasters.
